1. Jumlah penduduk yang banyak

'Pasar yang empuk' disebabkan karena Indonesia memiliki jumlah penduduk yang sangat banyak. Tercatat Indonesia merupakan negara dengan jumlah penduduk terbesar ke-5 di dunia, yakni lebih dari 250 juta jiwa.

Banyaknya jumlah penduduk inilah yang menyebabkan 'daya tarik' Indonesia sebagai pangsa pasar yang empuk bagi negara lain. Apalagi dominasi masyarakat kelas menengah dengan daya beli yang bagus, membuat banyak negara berlomba-lomba memasarkan produk mereka di Indonesia.


2. Masyarakat yang berkarakter konsumtif

Jumlah penduduk yang besar, namun berkarakter produktif -- belum tentu menjadi pangsa pasar yang empuk bagi negara lain. Seperti China yang tercatat memiliki jumlah penduduk terbanyak di dunia (1,3 milyar lebih), justru menjadi negara produsen / eksportir produk-produk manufaktur.

Beda halnya dengan Indonesia yang memiliki banyak penduduk, namun karakternya sangat konsumtif. Hal inilah yang menyebabkan negara-negara lain sangat tertarik menjual produk di Indonesia. Sifat masyarakat Indonesia yang agak boros, suka membeli sesuatu yang baru, dan rada-rada gengsian, membuat banyak produk mahal dan branded dari luar negeri laku keras di negara ini.


3. Belum ada SDM lokal yang mumpuni

Tidak ibarat Jepang, Korea Selatan, dan China yang memiliki SDM berkualitas, SDM di Indonesia masih jauh di bawah 3 'macan Asia' tersebut.

Penduduk China yang memiliki 'kekuatan dagang' yang bagus, serta penduduk Jepang dan Korea yang memiliki pengetahuan akan teknologi yang tinggi -- agaknya susah untuk dikejar oleh Indonesia. Hal itu dikarenakan sebagian besar penduduk Indonesia yang malas untuk maju, sistem pendidikan yang buruk, dan ambisi yang lemah, membuat Indonesia menjadi 'pasar yang empuk' bagi negara lain. Dengan SDM yang masih di bawah negara-negara 'macan Asia', maka sangat sulit bagi Indonesia untuk melaksanakan inovasi -- terutama di bidang teknologi. Bahkan dengan India saja Indonesia masih tertinggal jauh.
