WhatsApp is the first target for every scammer in this world. Before WhatsApp, people used to use Facebook as their platform to spread hoax scam messages. Now they know WhatsApp is the most using application so they find it easy to spread their scams.

From demonetization, unlimited data, voice call, cheap mobile phone offer to free recharges you can find all types of scam messages on WhatsApp. These all messages looks attractive so people always read them and follow the instruction written in the message.

Almost 99% offer messages are the scam on WhatsApp. It the easiest platform for scammers because you can buy an android phone from 1500 INR to 80000 INR. So from poor to rich can buy an android smartphone and the first thing they do is installing WhatsApp on their phone.

Why Scammer Do these type of things on Whatsapp

There are many intentions for doing these type of stuff. But what I have figured out is four points so let’s see each point in detail.

Money: every scam starts because of money. They will show you some attractive messages like. Get an upcoming android phone with a special offer in just 250 INR, or get unlimited 4G data, unlimited calls in 100 INR.

These type of scammer always want a small amount of money which you can pay easily.  They will redirect you to payment site and you will pay this small amount. Then you don’t get anything and when you know that you don’t take tension because the amount was small.

But just think if WhatsApp scammer gets 10000 people like you how much he earn and how much people lose.

Install Sponsored application: They share attracting scam message which asks you to install an application. Whenever you install that application they get some commission on that. Sometimes they share a malicious application which silently works in the background and sends all the personal detail of yours like mobile banking, photo, messages etc.

Sponsored Survey: Whenever you get some attractive WhatsApp message they give you a link. When you click that link it will redirect you to a site where it will ask you to complete a survey. When you complete the survey scammer will get some commission for that.

Personal detail: Some company gives the task to some people to collect some mobile numbers to increase their database for marketing. When you share the message or complete any survey. They will get your mobile number then they will keep on send you their marketing offers.

How to protect yourself from Whatsapp Scammers

I have 5 points if you follow these guidelines no one can be scammed you on WhatsApp nor in any social media site.

Greed / Attractive messages: if any message makes you greedy or attracts you. Then that’s the time you should think 5 times before approaching to that message. These type of scam messages always looks attractive and makes you greedy. So always remember Greed is the root of all evils.

Fake Link: Always see the link, the scammer always try to buy a domain which will look like real domain but it you can easily spot that. For example, if apple official site is https://www.apple.com scam link will look different like http://www.apple.co

Survey: If a message came from the brand you don’t know and you just click to see the information. Then suddenly some survey appears and the site asks you to complete the survey. Just close the site it is a scam.

Application Installation: if you click on WhatsApp scam message and it redirect you to some site and automatically some application start downloading. Then just stop the downloading it can be a malicious app. Always search the application on Google and see the people review before installing from WhatsApp messages.

Just Avoid it: if a WhatsApp message comes to you containing a link from an unknown person just avoid it. These type of message always shared in WhatsApp groups so just avoid these type of scam messages.
