31 People out of 3 Arrested Related to Theft of Diamonds State Rp 486 M





 
Brussels - Police in three countries, namely Belgium, France and Switzerland do the mass arrest of the perpetrators of theft spectacular diamonds worth U.S. $ 50 million or equivalent to Rp 486 billion. A total of 31 people were arrested from the three countries related case.

This diamond theft happened about 3 months ago at the airport in Zaventem, Belgium. Investigations conducted into the case led to the cross-country operations and then made ​​mass arrests on Tuesday (7/5) and Wednesday (8/5) this.

One of the main perpetrators of this diamond thieves arrested in France. While 6 other players, which is a member of the gang with the main actors, was arrested by Swiss police. In such arrests, seized a number of stolen diamonds.

"This case Investigations led to a massive police operation," said a spokeswoman for the prosecutor's office Brussels, Jean-Marc Meilleur, as reported by AFP on Wednesday (05/08/2013).

In a raid conducted Wednesday (8/5) morning, Belgian police successfully arrested 24 suspects. They also seized a large amount of cash.

The operation is called a large-scale as it involves about 200 personnel.

Diamond theft that occurred on Feb. 18, referred to as one of the largest diamond theft by the Antwerp World Diamond Centre (AWDC). The diamond was taken secretly by 8 actors, who pushed into the airport runway.

The offender forced open the door of a cargo plane about to take off Swiss and then seize the diamond.
